STATEMENT OF FAITH OF HOME CHURCH NW

The Word of God

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, authoritative and applicable in guiding our faith, lives and the mission of the Church.

One God

We believe in one eternal God, existing as one essence in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, the Creator of the visible and the invisible. He is perfect in love, holiness, wisdom, and justice, deserving of all glory and praise.

Jesus

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. We believe He was fully man and fully God. He died for our sins, was buried and rose on the third day, ascended to heaven, and is exalted at the Father’s right hand. We joyfully await His return in glory to judge the world and fully establish His kingdom.

Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who is sent by the Father and Son to give new life. Holy Spirit convicts and brings to repentance, indwells every believer. The Holy Spirit leads the believers into the life of righteousness, helping, teaching and guiding. We believe that the Holy Spirit fills and empowers the church for ministry towards maturity, and that he continues to give spiritual gifts today as He did in the early church.

Sin

We believe that humans were created in God’s image and were originally good, but in rebellion against God, sinned and as a result humanity was separated from God. We believe that only way to be reconciled and redeemed, is through Jesus Christ, who died on the cross in our place, and rose again so that those who believe in Him would live a new life in Him.

Repentance

We believe that all have sinned and are in need of a Savior to redeem us. In order to receive forgiveness and be born again, we must repent of our sins and believe in the Lord Jesus and submit to His will for our lives.

Salvation

We are saved by grace though faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is not a result of effort or anything we accomplish, but sheer goodness and mercy of God. He saves freely anyone who believes and offers an unearned and undeserved gift of eternal life to all who follow Him. Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.

Sanctification

We believe that the evidence of being saved is the ongoing process of sanctification. Once saved, a believer yields his life to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. God calls to a life of holiness and good works, enabled through the Holy Spirit to live godly lives.

The Church

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, sent out into the world to fulfill the Great Commission. We believe in the necessity of every believer to be active participant and member of a local church. We believe the church is called to gather regularly for fellowship, prayer and service.

Baptism

We believe that following the repentance, we are commanded to baptize the believers in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. By being immersed in the water and brought back up, baptism of the believer proclaims their death to sin and resurrection with Christ to the new life.

Communion

We believe as a Church we are commanded to repeatedly observe Communion. It is a special time for the believers who are baptized, to come and share the elements of bread in wine, which symbolize the body and blood of Jesus. We do this in remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death on the Cross, as His body was broken for us to brought into God’s family.

Humanity & Marriage

We believe in the historically Christian view of marriage and sexual expression. We believe that God instituted the marriage to be a lifelong one-flesh covenant union between two sexually different persons one man and one woman, and that all sexual relationships and expressions outside of marriage are sin.
